The BICP Program at PKU School of Chinese as a Second Language
Application Information (Spring Semester 2017)
The Business Intensive Chinese Program (BICP) at the School of Chinese as a Second Language of Peking University aims at improving Chinese proficiency for international students and building a bridge for cross-cultural communication. This program consists of four modules: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, and all the courses are delivered by experienced professors. It is a highly intensive course with sufficient amount of learning materials within a short period of time. Through becoming familiar with the Chinese language, lifestyle, history and customs, students are trained to be able to communicate in Chinese with local Chinese people as well as pass the HSK test. At the same time, the program also explores Chinese customs in different business environment, in order to developing students' business ability in various dimensions. In addition, the program offers various culture-related courses and activities including Tai Chi Chuan, Traditional Chinese Painting, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Paper Cutting and more.Students also have opportunities to participate in cultural experience activities including visiting well-known local companies and famous historical interests to put their study into practice. Upon completion of the language course, students who meet the assessment requirements will be issued with a certificate of completion from Peking University.

n Photocopy of current valid passport (ID page)
n Certification of the highest degree attained (photocopy) or proof of registration of your current academic institution (original).
n Reference letter from your current academic institution or company (in Chinese or English)
n A letter from your guarantee who is responsible for your stay in China
4. Eligibility for Applicants
n Non-Chinese citizens, who have attained at least high school’s diploma or above.
n Ranging in age from 18 to 40 and in good health.
n Purchasing medical insurance (failing to do so will result in the denial of further registration process).
5. Curriculum
The program is a full time course: Monday to Friday, 28 hours per week for compulsory courses, 4 hours per week for elective courses. The curriculum of compulsory courses is as follow:

6. Fees
n Application Fee: 400RMB per person (paid upon arrival).
n Tuition Fee: 17,600RMB per person. Applicants need to pay the full amount during the registration process.
7. Accommodation
n The school will provide assistance to enrolled students in applying to the PKU Global Village Apartment (Zhongguan Xinyuan) for housing. Each room at the Global Village Apartment is equipped with TV, telephone and computer network.
n The accommodation fee and deposit need to be paid separately (not included in the tuition fee).

9. Relevant Information
n For applicants who meet the requirements, the School will provide them with “Letter of acceptance” and “Visa application form for international students” (JW202).
n Students admitted to PKU may apply for visa at the Chinese Embassy in your country with letter of acceptance and the JW202 form. Moreover, they need to register and pay the tuition fee according to the time and date listed on the letter of acceptance. If they terminate the study due to subjective reasons, the tuition fee will not be refunded. For those who fail to register on time, the tuition fee will not be deducted.
n Students are required to purchase medical insurance according to the university regulations. Those who fail to do so cannot continue the registration process.
n The application materials and application fee will not be returned or refunded, whether an applicant is accepted or not.
